Pale straw in colour with green hues. The bouquet shows moss, lemon, yeast and boxwood are all evoked subtly but promise liveliness nonetheless. The palate is vibrant with zesty citrus that underlines a concentrated, yeasty core of intense saltiness that makes this simply irresistible. Hints of white pepper shimmer in the background while lemon keeps everything on point.

Markus Huber, a 10th generation farmer, is already synonymous with the Austrian wine industry. The Huber family has been farming in the Traisental area in lower Austria since the 17th century, and Markus has been at the helm since 2000, turning it into one of Austria’s leading exporters. The Traisental area, 60km west of Vienna, has a cool climate due to its idyllic location between the Alps and the Danube. As Traisental has the coolest climate in all of Austria, it is a premium location for white wines specifically, giving the wines a unique, mineral-driven style. It is also the only appellation in Austria where Gruner Veltliner and Riesling are grown on limestone soils. Markus focuses on ecological viticulture, and using natural resources sustainably. The winery has a low carbon footprint, with the goal of being fully carbon neutral within the next five years, and the entire winery is certified according to the requirements of “Sustainable Austria”. Furthermore, all the wines produced by Weingut Huber are certified as organic.
