Pale garnet red in colour. The bouquet shows aromas of ripe raspberry and pomegranate notes are defined by the firm but smooth texture, with spice, tobacco, black tea and cigar box nuances. Wonderful complexity of flavours of sweet spices, ripe strawberries and roasted herbs. Mid-palate has a good density and focus; long on the finish.

Urlar, Gaelic for 'The Earth". We have great respect for the land. After all, it's the foundation of our business and it is why we have chosen to take the biodynamic approach to the way we tend our land and make our wine. It's all about restoring balance to the earth and nature. The result is outstanding single wines that capture the purity and the flavour inherent in the land. Hailing from Scotland, Angus Thomson is a 5th generation farmer, descending from a family of distillers. He and his wife simply fell in love with New Zealand and so packed up their three young children to put down roots here. Loving the beautiful stony soils of Gladstone in the Wairarapa, they quickly turned their dreams into reality with the help of renowned winemaker and viticulturist, Guy McMaster.
