The Hedonist Sangiovese

Deep ruby red in colour with purple hues. The bouquet shows aromas of raspberries, cherries and subtle notes of cinnamon spice. The palate is vibrant with notes of red berries and cherries dominate, with a hint of cinnamon. Fine grain tannins fashion a smooth palate, while adding length and texture on a opulent finish.

A dynamic trio – the winemaking team consists of Walter Clappis, a veteran winemaker of 36 vintages, daughter, Kimberly and her partner James Cooter. Walter’s experience and wisdom plus the energy and enthusiasm of the new generation, has created the perfect balance in the winery. All the wines reflect a purity which is consistent with the Winemakers and their philosophies. Our wines are made using certified biodynamic and organic vineyards and winemaking practices. The Hedonist vineyard is located in the Willunga foothills of McLaren Vale. The idyllic St Vincent’s Gulf lies 5km to the West. The soil is rich loam over clay with patches of underlying limestone. The emphasis of biodynamics is to promote soil health and maintain a balanced and diverse population of soil biology. In keeping with our holistic philosophies, the vineyard is managed with the absence of pesticides and herbicides.
