The Hedonist Reserve Shiraz

A deep red colour with some crimson hues. The bouquet is lifted with aromas of fresh red to dark fruits, dark chocolate and a nutmeg and clove lift. The palate is generous with complexity and texture. Red to dark berries continue through to the palate enhanced by fine, velvety oak tannins creating a lengthy and moreish finish.

A dynamic trio – the winemaking team consists of Walter Clappis, a veteran winemaker of 36 vintages, daughter, Kimberly and her partner James Cooter. Walter’s experience and wisdom plus the energy and enthusiasm of the new generation, has created the perfect balance in the winery. All the wines reflect a purity which is consistent with the Winemakers and their philosophies. Our wines are made using certified biodynamic and organic vineyards and winemaking practices. The Hedonist vineyard is located in the Willunga foothills of McLaren Vale. The idyllic St Vincent’s Gulf lies 5km to the West. The soil is rich loam over clay with patches of underlying limestone. The emphasis of biodynamics is to promote soil health and maintain a balanced and diverse population of soil biology. In keeping with our holistic philosophies, the vineyard is managed with the absence of pesticides and herbicides.
