Rebel Rebel Syrah

Garnet red in colour, with purplish nuances. The bouquet shows red berries, dried herbs, olive brine and white pepper aromas. The palate brings fresh acidity and soft, tannins, notes of black fruits, olive tapenade and peppercorns, flavourful with just the right amount of fleshiness about it. The finish shows restrained and focused with freshness, texture and natural acidity.

Kayleigh Hattingh, assistant winemaker at Kaapzicht, started her own label, Rebel Rebel, with her maiden release Syrah and Colombard. Kayleigh studied viticulture and oenology at Stellenbosch University and thereafter gained winemaking experience in SA, Napa Valley and Spain. Her passion for minimal intervention, terroir-driven wines has led her to create her maiden releases from special sites in Bottelary, Stellenbosch. 'The first time I walked through this vineyard and tasted these grapes, I dreamt of making wine from this very special site. Finally, in 2020, that became a reality.' - Kayleigh Hattingh
