Garnet red in colour. The bouquet has a very intense and fresh aroma, showing the fresh summer nights in the altitude areas of the Douro Superior, marked by violets, black and red fruits characteristic of the grapes, in balance with very subtle notes of French oak barrel. The palate is fresh and shows vibrant acidity and tannins are an evidence of the soil and the climate, forecasting great longevity, then we feel all the notes of the aroma in an elegant and long flavoursome finish.

I was brought up in my family’s heartlands in the Douro Superior, Portugal, a remote yet magical corner of the Iberian Peninsula. Here the scents and smells of our rugged and beautiful landscape made a powerful impression on me.
Having travelled through many of the winemaking regions of the world and learned about their practices, I returned to our vineyards, convinced of their great potential to make world class wines. I’ve been making wine in this region for more than 20 years now. Over many harvests I’ve learned that by taking care of the vineyards to preserve the natural balance of things, I get the best out of our indigenous grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Jaen… Created in my own winery, these wines can then express the real character of the land. These great vineyards of the Douro region continue to inspire my passion for winemaking.
