Vivacious violet red in colour. The bouquet is fresh and intense, violets, cherries and plum aromas predominate. The liquorice is present, giving complexity. Very integrated with the fruit are the vanilla, toast and smoky notes which denote its 12 month passage through French oak barrels. The mature and soft tannins give it vivacity on the palate, but they are nonetheless round. Its acidity gives it freshness, intense and persistent. The finish is long, harmonic elegant and smooth.

MENDEL Winery embodies the union of Roberto de la Mota -one of Argentina’s most respected and experienced winemakers- with an established Argentine family. Originating high in the Andes Mountains, the alluvial soils of Mendel vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo are very poor in organic material. They are sandy on top with stone and gravel below giving excellent drainage during the rare bursts of rain in Mendoza. Excellent mineral content and low amounts of nitrogen result in healthy plants, but with low vigor, which helps increase concentration of flavor in the grapes. Together we are dedicated to producing wines of unquestionable superior quality expressing the quality and character of our very old Malbec and Cabernet vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina. We choose the best lots from our almost 80-year-old vineyards, paying rigorous attention to every detail of the artisan winemaking process, from carefully sorting bunches to fermentation in small tanks to aging in the finest French oak. Ancient vineyards, passionate people, experience and friendship are blended to create our remarkable wines.
