Excellent depth of colour featuring a midnight black core and a deep bright dark red hue. The bouquet shows expressive blackcurrant, black olive and mulberry aromas meld into cedar tobacco and bay leaf notes. The palate brings ample generosity to the ripe blackcurrant fruit, notes of mulberry, dusty cedar, light tobacco and bay leaf then move in. Fine, slightly grainy tannins provide an excellent framework. The finish is long with a sense of refinement.

In 1974, under the direction of Denis and Tricia Horgan a vineyard was planted, and by 1978 the Leeuwin Estate winery building was opened, celebrating with a trial vintage. Now under the direction of two generations of the founding family.
