Inky black at its core with a very deep bright dark purple black hue. The bouquet shows fragrant blackberry and liquorice scents mix with fresh dark plum, vanillin cedar, scorched earth and peppered dried meat notes. Generous blackberry, dark plum and liquorice fruits are backed by an underlying freshness. Refined in its feel, elements of vanillin cedar, light earth and pepper sit in the background. Shows both energy and definition with well integrated tannins and an elegant yet structured finish.

In 1974, under the direction of Denis and Tricia Horgan a vineyard was planted, and by 1978 the Leeuwin Estate winery building was opened, celebrating with a trial vintage.
