Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay

Brilliant pale straw colour with a faint glimmer of green skirting the edges and a watery hue. Intense and highly complex bouquet offers up an intoxicating mix of white peach, nectarine, light grapefruit and faint dried honey aromas which are intermeshed with biscuity oak, citrus, nougat, almond and gun flint notes. Rich and powerful yet simultaneously finely sculptured, sophisticated and brimming with freshness, the seductive palate is awash with vibrant white peach and nectarine fruits. Elements of dried honey, toasty oak, roasted almonds, citrus, nougat and delicate infusions of gun flint gracefully expand across the back half. Supremely balanced, the focused finish exceptionally long and classy.

Leeuwin Estate is one of the founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district, known for consistently producing wines that rank with the world's finest. In 1972, following an extensive search for the area most suitable to produce the best varietal wines in Australia, American winemaker, Robert Mondavi, identified the future site of the Leeuwin vineyard. In 1974, under the direction of Denis and Tricia Horgan a vineyard was planted, and by 1978 the Leeuwin Estate winery building was opened, celebrating with a trial vintage. Now under the direction of two generations of the founding family.
