L’Abeille Picpoul de Pinet

Pale lemon in colour. The bouquet shows citrus notes of lemon and lime, with white blossom and green herb notes. The palate is dry with vibrant green apple leaving gentle and refreshing notes of Mediterranean white peach, apricot kernel and zesty lime peel culminating in a silky mouth-feel and crisp, vibrant acidity on the finish.

Picpoul is known locally as the ‘Lip Stinger’, labelled that because of its naturally vibrant acidity, resulting in one of France’s greatest crisp white wines. Playing with this concept of ‘sting’ we named this wine ‘The Bee’ or ‘l’Abeille’, the winemaking is less tongue in cheek though. Taking concepts of ‘sur lie’ from Muscadet, we take lean, fresh Picpoul and work on the mid palate richness, to create an incredibly textural wine that really stands out in the glass. The vineyards overlook the Basin de Thau, the largest oyster beds in Europe.
