A truly remarkable wine. The bouquet is deeply fragrant with bright notes of apricot, fresh mission fig and lemon with notes of bee pollen and yeast. The palate is exceptionally bright with a core of apricot, pear and lemon flavors and musky notes of lemon zest, tea and persimmon. The mid-palate is well-balanced and lively with additional notes of baked apple. The finish is very long and lingering. A striking and extremely refined 'Orange' styled Rioja wine.

The Rubio-Villar family have been involved with wine making in the area for well over a century. Juan Rubio Hernando built a small underground clay cellar in the town to produce “El Clarete de Cordovín” made in stone vats. Production gradually increased and subsequent family generations invested in new vineyards. In 1961, Delfín Rubio decides to sell the wine directly to the bottlers, as a result “El Clarete de Cordovín” becomes well known across Northern Spain for its quality. In the early 1980s Honorio Rubio takes control of the Bodega. In 1989, Honorio Rubio starts bottling the wine and selling directly to their customers. Changes are made to the small underground clay cellar to keep up with technological advances without sacrificing the quality and nature of this family made wine.
