Finca Flichman Misterio Malbec

Full red-ruby. Pure aromas of blackberry, liquorice, bitter chocolate and violet. Juicy, concentrated and refined, showing a restrained sweetness and good medicinal reserve to the flavours of darkest berries, mocha and bitter chocolate. Finishes smooth and persistent, with a serious dusting of fine-grained tannins and lingering dark berry and liquorice notes.

Finca Flichman was founded in 1910 by Don Sami Flichman, who emigrated to Argentina from Łódz in Poland. He purchased property in Barrancas (southern Maipú) and planted vines on rocky, well-drained plots along the Mendoza River. It was Sami’s son Isaac who first began to make fine wine at the estate. Having received his oenology training in France, Isaac and winemaker Raúl de la Mota created ‘Caballero de la Cepa’, one of the first high-quality wines that garnered international awareness for premium Argentinian wines. Sogrape, owned by the Guedes family, purchased Finca Flichman and investing heavily in restoring the vineyards and modernising the winery. Finca Flichman still owns their original Barrancas vineyard, but since 1998 have also expanded to the higher elevations of Tupungato in the Uco Valley. At the foot of the Andes, these vineyards benefit from large diurnal temperature variations, resulting in longer ripening seasons and more elegant styles. Today, the local winemaking team is supported by consultant and renowned winemaker Alberto Antonini, as well as Pedro Parra, the South American expert on soil and vineyard mapping.
