The bouquet opens on an elegant combination of red and black fruit aromas, followed with airing by elegant spice and roasted coffee-bean notes. The palate has ripe red and black fruit flavours, followed on the mid-palate by powerful black fruit mingled with delicate spice and roasted coffee-bean notes. The fruit flavours are underpinned by beautifully refined tannins which give length and elegance to the finish.

Produced by Baron Philippe de Rothschild Maipo Chile, Escudo Rojo was born in 1999, the result of a marriage of ancestral Bordeaux expertise and exceptional Chilean terroir. These fine branded wines are both cultivated in the great Bordeaux winemaking tradition of Baron Philippe de Rothschild and capitalise on Chile’s environmental richness. Just four years after the launch of Escudo Rojo, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild inaugurated the Baron Philippe de Rothschild Maipo Chile Bodega in 2003, situated 45 kilometres south of Santiago in the Maipo Valley. The opening marked Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s deep commitment to Chile. The Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s spirit permeates the production of their Chilean wines through the quest for high quality. Escudo Rojo blends Chilean identity with French style.
