Equiano Light Rum

The bouquet shows a harmonious balance of fresh sugar cane with hints of vanilla, dried light oak and earthy, grassy notes. The palate is concentrated on aromas of light tropical fruits, citrus oils and hints of green apple. Then, notes of ripe sugar cane, citrus peel and a hint of vanilla compote. Finally, the aged Barbadian component takes centre stage, as the tropical aging of the rum, in formerly used American oak barrels, leaves a slight oakiness on the finish.

It is named after Olaudah Equiano, a freedom fighter who fought his way to liberation by selling rum. Equiano was one of the first African writers to have his work published and his fascinating memoirs were the driving force behind the Transatlantic Slave Trade Act of 1807. All of its rich, deep flavours come from the old bourbon and Cognac barrels in which it underwent tropical maturation, making Equiano totally unique.
