Eikendal Vineyards Cabernet Merlot

An intense brick red in colour. Sophisticated and bold. It is very expressive with ripe blackberry and blackcurrent characters dominating the bouquet. The characteristic cassis and earthiness of Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly evident. Spice and sweet French oak compliment and balance the fruit on the palate. Fleshy and concentrated fruit is supported by a backbone of fine-grained tannins on the finish.

Eikendal Vineyards sits between the foothills of the Helderberg and the edge of Stellenbosch Mountains, in what’s known as ‘The Golden Triangle’, an area suited beautifully to winemaking. It offers a range of soil types, generous elevation and cooling ocean breezes from False Bay. The property was bought in 1981 by the Saager family from Zurich, Switzerland, who immediately saw its potential to produce world-class wine. Eikendal prides itself in blending modern viticulture with Old World winemaking, with a belief that quality comes from creating concentrated berries in the vineyard, and working to preserve their flavour in the cellar to create wines with elegance, freshness and finesse.
