Drambuie Whisky Liqueur

Scotland's most famous liqueur and one of the most recognised of the great classic liqueur brands, Drambuie has a fabulously complex flavour profile and a heritage which stretches back to the 18th century and the son of a deposed King of England. Amber/golden in colour. Aromas of liquorice, black pepper, dill and Scotch whisky. Flavours of liquorice, herbs and whisky. Sweet with ample viscosity. One of the world's great liqueurs, Drambuie is based on the finest Scotch whisky and blended with heather honey and herbs. To use fifteen-year old malts for turning into liqueur may seem like sacrilege, but in the case of Drambuie the end justifies the means. The name comes from the Gaelic an dram buidbeach, 'the drink that satisfies'. Legend has it that the recipe was given to the Mackinnon family by Bonnie Prince Charlie, for saving his life after the collapse of the Scottish clans' rebellion of 1745. The original recipe was passed on from Prince Charles Edward (Bonnie Prince Charlie) to the MacKinnon family who still supervise its production today.
