The bouquet opens with bright purple fruits before a darker layer of black olive and cracked pepper emerges. On closer inspection all the different varieties are on display with a rack full of spices and a touch of pot-pourri. The palate is equally complex with lovely sweet fruit opening before more savoury elements of black olive, cured meat and game take over the mid palate. Cinnamon, bay leaf and nutmeg have a role to play on the long and mineral finish.

Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended vineyards in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Every vineyard has a personality which we encourage to flourish with minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery. Through time honoured techniques such as open fermentation, foot treading and basket pressing, this personality is allowed to shine. Harmony between environmental sustainability and wine industry practice is a strong commitment upheld at d'Arenberg, with the aim to pass on a sustainable business to the next generation. Today fourth generation family member, Chester, makes distinctive wines using traditional methods both in the vineyard and the winery.
