The fresh strawberry and raspberry notes waft from the glass with another layer of earthy leafiness revealed as the wine opens up. The palate is packed with fresh and pure fruits of the forest. The fruit is harmoniously balanced by more complex layers of cocoa powder, damp earth, white pepper and a subtle cigar box character. The tannins are vibrant and fine, lingering for a long time with traces of ripe strawberry clinging wilfully to them. Clearly a good vintage, the pure fruits drive this wine. More layers of complexity are revealed on the finish.

Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended vineyards in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Every vineyard has a personality which we encourage to flourish with minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery. Through time honoured techniques such as open fermentation, foot treading and basket pressing, this personality is allowed to shine. Harmony between environmental sustainability and wine industry practice is a strong commitment upheld at d'Arenberg, with the aim to pass on a sustainable business to the next generation. Today fourth generation family member, Chester, makes distinctive wines using traditional methods both in the vineyard and the winery.
